Best Restaurants in Waikiki

Ruth's Chris Steak House
"Best Steak House"

Want a great steak...and don't care about price? There are only a few restaurants where the steak is as good as they claim. One of those places is Ruth's Chris Steak House at the Waikiki Beach Walk. Yes, it's expensive, try $8 for a baked potato. But there are so many reasons why you should check it out. First, the steaks are outta this world. Ruth's Chris prides itself in the choice, cuts and preparation of its meats. The steaks are aged for tenderness and their thick cuts keep them juicy. And the best part about going to the Beach Walk location is having an excuse to cruise around Waikiki.

Yard House
"The In Place"

The new "In Spot" in Waikiki. This is one of my favorite places to hang. Great food and hundreds of beer selections from all over the world. Most popular is their sampler beers, you get three beers to try and you can mix and match to find that perfect one. The music here - mostly classic rock - mixed with some tasty eats (giant gourmet burgers, huge salads) make you feel good all over. The prices are not to die for, but the freshness and massive selection of beer are why this place is jammed nightly. TV screens play a variety of sports, including college football, if you feel like heading out with the company of friends, this is the place to go.

Chart House
"Local Favorite"

The Chart House has been a favorite with locals for years and years. Good food, very large portions, great selection at affordable prices. What separates the Chart House is its local feeling, cast of charaters that frequent the restaurant and the decor that really makes you feel you are in Waikiki trading fishing stories with other patrons. You can visit their online menu to see what is offered and they always have great inexpenive specials. Just walk across the Ilikai foyer, over the walkway bridge to the restaurant.

Ocean House
"Beachfront Lobster"

My favorite restaurant for location... direct beachfront overlooking the sand and awesome views of the sunset and pounding waves just steps away. The prime rib here is to die for, I didn't even need a knife it was so tender. Couple that with the lobster and a glass of fine wine, and this is truely one of the best romantic spots for dining out on the beach.

They have a huge all you can eat salad bar and steak and fresh fish is provided to you raw and you cook your own meats and fishes right on their huge BBQ.

The price is right and the atmosphere is casual and very relaxed. They have wonderful nightly Hawaiian singers and the bar is a great place to hang out.

Wailana Coffee House
"Best Cheap Home Meals"

The Wailana Coffee is a huge favorite with those on a budget or those who want an expensive but good home made style meal. They have a small salad bar but the meals here are huge. The meatloaf special is a favorite and includes potatoes, bread, all you can eat salad bar, vegetables, soda and a chocolate sundae for appx. $12. Other meals are just $8.95.

Open 24 hours, breakfast usually see lines out the door, try walking straight in and sitting at the counter for faster service. Steaks not really recommended here.

Nicks Fish Market
"Upscale Seafood"

Both Gourmet and Honolulu Magazine have given this seafood restaurant awards over the past couple of years. When you dine here, you will understand why.

The fish is incredibly fresh, and the seafood selection ranges from local favorites such as Mahi-Mahi and Ono to live Maine Lobster and Dungeness crab. If you're in the mood for a seafood salad, this place offers a fantastic one. A vast and varied wine list offers a myriad of choices to complement each dish.

Dukes Waikiki
"The Beach Party"

It's what you came for - authentic Waikiki. You are invited to experience old Waikiki at Dukes, the world-famous restaurant named for our favorite son, Duke Kahanamoku. It is Waikiki as it should be. But don't take our word for it, just ask the locals. Duke's is where they take their friend and family from out of town. For two years in a row, Dukes has been the proud recipient of the Hale Aina Award as the Best Place to Take a Visitor by the readers of Honolulu Magazine.

There may be no more exciting place to people-watch than at the Barefoot Bar. You could say it's the coolest hotspot on the island. The Zagat Survey has named Duke's Waikiki Hawaii's Most Popular Nightlife Venue. Enjoy live music by Henry Kapono on Sunday, and live concerts on the beach every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
